Howdy... Just started, trying to learn 5 string for celtic trad... Wondering if I shoulda gotten a tenor, but since we're also doing some bluegrass, in my ignorance figure more strings = more versatile. perhaps not, but apparently some folks have made it work :)

	g3zdm says: 1/8/2013 2:53:33 PM I do BG, OT Celtic, English morris dance tunes and cajun all on a 5-string. There are even some 5-string banjo tabs around for some Irish tunes. See also BHO posts and books by Tom Hanway on the subject. There's a couple of long threads in the "Playing Advice, other styles" forum section on playing Celtic/Irish tunes on a 5-string.

We're working on a really fun version of "Cigareets and whiskey and wild, wild women" with a celtabilly twist :) Hope to be able to trot out the 5-string on that one. BTW Love the logo. I'm a linux user too. 12+ years or so.
