Imagine my pleasure as Greg Cahill of Special Consensus this past weekend in Miles City MT picked up my '27 Gibson Archtop and played for about 30 minutes after the show. Him and 2 other stellar Banjo players passed it around while all exclaimed what a great instrument it was. I was smiling like a proud poppa showing off his first newborn child. It was a real treat to watch all these guys play in a relaxed atmosphere that really brought out their talents. The other two players were Mark Leslie (High Plains Tradition) and 21 year old David Robinson of Monroe Crossing. Both bands are regional (Colorado and Minnesota respectively) and both are exceptional on the 5. All the musicians at the Miles City Bluegrass Festival were friendly and approachable especially the guys from Special C. Greg Cahill was as friendly as they come and was certainly willing to talk on any subject that was brought forth. A true ambassador for the world of bluegrass. I did get some video of them playing and will try to get it posted to the site.
