Happy Labor Day Weekend!

From claireM on 8/26/2014 10:02:00 AM

Hello to all!

Summer is almost over, Labor Day Weekend is just around the corner.  I figure I could start some movement here on our Blog.

What are people doing for their Labor Day Weekend?

I am driving to California to pick up my mother to spend a couple of months with me.  I am hoping she will move in with me, so this is a test run.  Also, I am having a grandbaby on the way, so Mom and I will be visiting family too.

How about you?  What great adventure will you be partaking?

Hey Claire ...

It's LaboUr Day here in Canada also :)

I will be spending the weekend at "the cabin" with family. Picking up a new vehicle in a couple of days, so I guess I will enjoy the 45 minute drive a little more than usual.

Back to work tomorrow (college instructor, off for the summer), so I will be starting some prep work.

MOST IMPORTANTLY, since I have a lesson with Al tomorrow I guess I will be licking some wounds, and getting my head around a new tune.

Wouldn't mind driving to CA myself ... sounds like fun - though for me it's a 3500 mile trip. 74 hours, if I don't stop, according to Google Maps !

Interesting question. I'd like to see what everyone is up to.

Im going to try to find some people to pick with on Saturday.
On Sunday I am going to grill/smoke a turkey on the big green egg as practice for Thanksgiving comin up in a couple months.
I will probably also work on getting the lights fixed on the pickin patio as the plastic hooks we used to hang the light strands broke and one of the strands fell and some of the bulbs broke. Im going to use zip ties this time.
...and of course lots of practicing on the banjo and mandolin... So I can suck less.

"Suck less" ... I see that you set a high bar, like myself :)

(Honestly though, and in fairness to Al ... I suck a LOT less than I did before starting lessons, and I am sucking less and less every week ! )

Yes if you set low goals you will always exceed your expectations.

Loukiii, love your comment! Don't let Al hear that! He is always making sure we get it right!

Hey G, sounds like your cabin trip will be nice. I live in the desert part of Oregon, so trees are good! Thankfully I live close enough to the mountains to go there and get some green!
