Not frogs, playing a show. I was asked to sit in for the banjo player for a local bluegrass band this Saturday Night at the Tennessee Smokehouse BBQ in Lakeland, FL. I have been jamming with these guys and gals since the beginning and either they think I am ready to be useful, or every other banjo player within driving distance had prior commitments. lol

I'm looking forward to it. I hope it's one of my good nights and not one of my bad nights where fall all over myself like a total dipshit.

Having played once in front of a very small audience, thankfully and at that time only one group rendition of Cripple Creek I was wondering how you get ready to play a full set. Are all your numbers selected or do you have to backup and fill on the fly? Will you do any solo stuff? I assume everything you do is memorized? Thanks and good luck
	loukiii says: 6/5/2013 5:22:32 PM Hahahaha I wish. Some of the guys I jam with have a band. They are the ones I aspired to be able to play up to, and still do because they are good musicians. Their regular banjo player, who has about 30 years of experience, is out of town. They asked me if I would fill in. I have their play list and practiced the ones I know. We rehearse tomorrow and will put together a set list. If I can take a break I will, if not I plan on rolling through the chord changes and doing what I can. I'll work on the songs in the list to at least be able to muck my way through them and know what they sound like. I will stay in my comfort zone and not try anything I'm not 100% sure I can pull off. I hope they let me play a couple featuring the banjo, but it's their band and I'm just a hired gun. Wife is going to video so I will share it. It will be a learning experience. I have not been on stage since high school. Lol

	loukiii says: 6/7/2013 4:15:20 PM 7:15. We rehearsed yesterday, expectations are low. Lol. Some of the songs I heard for the first time, some ain't even bluegrass. I'm just happy for the opportunity. The band is pretty good though so I think I won't bring them down too bad. Lol
