Greetings all, I'm just curious to see where everybody was as far as ability after five or six months of lessons with Al. I am currently working on love is like a flower although I broke my pinky last week and have not been able to practice that song. I guess I am progressing alright but it is hard to tell. I think I'll record Blue Ridge Cabin Home and post it.

	loukiii says: 5/7/2013 7:18:33 AM I think that probably depends on where you were before you started with Al. I had been learning for almost 2 years before I started learning from Al. I thought I was getting pretty decent, but was soon shown the error of my ways lol. The first few months were disappointing. I wasn't really unlearning any major bad habits, but sometimes small changes are the most difficult to make. What I was doing before was working, but as it was explained to me, it would not work when I started playing up to speed, or more difficult pieces. So I put in the effort to make the changes and I would say, at 5 or 6 months is where I was finally starting to "Get it" and starting to see the improvements myself. The most difficult songs for me are ones that I had learned from my other teacher, since I already "know" them, again it is usually just a few minor adjustments, or substituting an unfamiliar lick or roll to a song I already memorized.
	loukiii says: 5/7/2013 7:22:16 AM Let me clarify that it was not Al that was disappointing, it was my lack of ability to learn as easily as I thought I should have been learning. I felt like my whole playing went to hell as I was having difficulties playing even familiar songs with others that I had been playing with for over a year. But like I said, I kind of expected it to happen and I worked through it and now feel like I am making rapid progress again.
