I read a book called Gibson Guitars- 100 Years of an American Icon, by Walter Carter. I enjoyed it a lot, even though I don't play guitar. There's a lot of stuff about mandolins and banjos in the book, a lot of history. I didn't know that Mozart and Beethoven wrote music for mandolin, nor that the first name of the company was the Gibson Mandolin-Guitar Manufacturing Company. Check it out if you like historical musical stuff.

	Klondike Waldo says: 2/28/2013 8:47:46 AM Mandolins were used a lot in orchestral music from the time of the Renaissance up until th e19th Century. Many Baroque and Classical composers wrote for mandolin.
