Hi there fellow epiphone pluckers,I have an mb 250 which I bought six months ago,I think its a great banjo but I find I have to play it with a sponge under the strings behind the bridge,If I dont do this I find its very boomy ,it has a nice sound with the sponge but i was wondering if there was any other way to get rid of the booming sound?Hope you can understand this as Im not too good at expressing the problem,does any other 250 owner have this problem,Im only a newbie at this game so go easy on me, Many thanks,Ian

	YankeeInKY says: 5/27/2012 4:50:17 PM How tight is the head? If it's loose, it'll be boomy. Try a quarter turn on each nut, and see if it gets brighter. I'm betting it will, mine did.
	Klondike Waldo says: 5/28/2012 4:37:13 AM Ian, that problem is certainly not unique to MB250s or Epiphone. If you do a search in teh Banjo Building and Set-up forum, you'll find lots of tips. Look in particular for Steve Davis' method of guaging head tightness. and BTW, failte go leoir am BHO.

	LGriff6250 says: 8/9/2012 2:11:49 PM head tightening is the first place to start for sure. Usually when I do this, I right away notice a brighter, crisper sound. My Epiphone is about 40 years old, probably built in the late 60s, as I've had it since like 1974. It's had the same head all these years, and I still like the sound. Will post a pic when I get a chance.
