MB 250

From RB4picker on 5/2/2012 8:16:43 PM

Bought my Epi last July when I started playing. Was told it's an MB 250. How do I know for sure? Is there a serial no.?

Thanks, David

If you could describe the banjo that would be a start; what does the headstock, neck inlay, body look like? Gibson and Epiphone both have pictures of the various models and you can match fro there.

Good point Gil. I'll check it out.

There are four bolts that hold the resonator on the banjo, they pass through the flange. Loosen those with the banjo laying down (so the resonator doesn't fall, or twist off causing damage), and carefully remove the resonator. They should only be thumb tight, but might be a little tighter than that.

Once the resonator is off, you should find a label with the the model number, and maybe the serial number, stuck somewhere on a side wall of the rim.

Thanks Gene. I've been reluctant to start taking things apart. Afrain they won't go back correctly. But I think I can handle taking off the resonator.
