set up for mb200

From Dan-Ban on 4/28/2012 8:41:06 AM

Hi. I live in Denmark. I'm new to the group & would appreciate some help. I have an mb200 & would like some advice as to how to set it up, what to change etc. Klondike Waldo has given me some good tips & I'd like to hear others who've had some experience with this Epi. So far I've lowered the action & put a Grover compensated bridge on it. Any feedback would be much appreciated.

The Grover bridge will help with any intonation problems your 200 may have, but one of Steve Davis' bridges will make it sound like a whole new instrument. Steve will send you one to try, and you can either pay him for it, or send it back. I'll bet you send the check.

Make sure your head is tight, they do stretch initially.

Thanks. While I was waiting for advice I checked out the topic on the hangout. It's been pretty much covered. But it's still good with an update. Thanks for taking the time to write back. But now the $64000 question. How tight should I tighten the head?

Search the Banjo Setup forum. There's a bunch of threads on head tightness. I use Steve Davis's "quarter and stick" method. It's hard to hear the tone of the head by tapping on it.

Thanks again :-) I've checked Steve's threads previously. He was also kind enough to write to me about the Grover. I'll check him out again re the coin & Stick technique. Appreciate your help.
