Hi, I'm Jim.  I have an MB-500 and I love it.  I bought it in July as a closeout from the local Sam Ash store.  Got a great deal on it as it had been in stock for 6 years.  LOL  Not a lot of demand for banjos here in Jersey, I guess.  They had 3 banjos in stock the day I went, a cheap Fender, an MB-100, and my baby.  Tried the cheapies first and was so surprised by the weight of the 500 I almost dropped it.... 14 pounds worth of sweet ringing tone.  I put a German made compensated bridge on it and the intonation is now just about perfect.  The only complaint I have is the nut slots are not deep enough, so the strings tend to go sharp when fretting if you push down hard.  I got two years worth of free setups as part of the deal, but I never feel like giving up playing time to take it in for repair.  One of these days.

Welcome to the group. The MB-500 is a nice looking banjo. Congrats on the purchase.
