I am new here, and I see there are no posts as of yet. I guess I can get this started. I have an Epiphone MB-250. I loved the banjo when I found it in the music store and with a few touches, it has become an incredible banjo. It came with a bone nut, but the pip was synthetic, so I changed this to a bone as well. I changed to a Kershner tailpiece and an Ren head.

This banjo has a sound that is very emotional. It can play soft and sweet or loud and hard. I love the versatility this banjo gives me. How about it, what are you playing.

oldwolf says: 12/28/2011 9:16:16 PM I also have an MB-250. I have owned lot's of banjos over the years, including Gibson RB-250's. For a low priced banjo my Epiphone is a dandy. It weighs a ton however, probably more than any banjo I have ever owned. If they are all as good as mine, I highly reccommend them. Gene Warner repairman

	MightyMOBanjo says: 12/30/2011 4:35:38 AM I am glad that we are getting some people in this group!! I have a MB 250 that I have been tweaking to get the sound I want. Even though I live in the Ozarks, no one seems to know how to set up a banjo here in my town. So when I 1st got my Epi it sounded bad, and thought I just wasted my money. So I tighten the head, lowered the action put a Scorpion bridge and a Fults 34 Parallel on it, plus the D Tuners. Now it sounds pretty good. I am now thinking about putting a bone nuts on, hoping that will improve the tone even more. What have u guys done?
	Vapor says: 12/30/2011 9:29:20 AM I also changed the bridge to a custom built Sampson Bridge. Each thing added to the banjo, but I think the bridge and the head were the biggest things. I love it.
oldwolf says: 1/2/2012 12:00:09 AM I have a book titled "How To Set Up The Best Sounding Banjo", by Roger Siminoff. I think it is available from Janet Davis, and probably other dealers. It has a lot of good detailed info, for those who would like to learn to work on their own banjos. I think it's a pretty good investment. Gene Warner repairman

	Vapor says: 1/2/2012 9:53:10 AM I have the book as well. It has some great information. I highly recomend it to someone who is new to the banjo. I am fortunate in that I have a good friend who is a luthier and builds custom guitars, who has taught me more than I could ever imagine. I an say everyone loves the sound from my 250. It is n incredible banjo.

	Vapor says: 2/29/2012 8:14:40 AM There is a serial number on the back of the headstock, and you can usually tell model by the inlay and build.
	hardint says: 11/13/2012 4:06:56 AM I can't seem to get the sound I want from my MB250, I put a Davis bridge on it,but it never sounds in tune to me and the fret/string distance is to much.
