I just purchased a used Goodtime 2 and waiting for delivery. I'm going to take ti to the factory and have it checked out and have them show me how to set it up. Also ordered a Mike's mute after my wife heard the demo on the website.
I started lessons a couple of years ago while working in Prescott AZ but was unable to continue when I got home - finally able to start again.
I can't find an instructor in North San Diego County and when I called the Deering Factory they couldn't refer one. Any advice with on-line lessons or an instructor in my area will be very appreciated.

While taking your Goodtime to the factory is fine, I'd recommend you learn to set it up yourself to your liking. Banjos are pretty easy that way and there are plenty of resources on the net that will guide you.
