And So It Begins

From copperbanjo on 1/29/2015 9:55:14 PM

When I say I am new...I really mean it.  Never played banjo before.  After years of loving the sound and the music, and after about a year of lurking on BHO, I have pulled the trigger.

My new Eagle II is bought and paid for.  Now I am just waiting for delivery.  Word has it, I should have her in hand mid - late February.  Just waiting for the factory to get er done.

FUN FUN days ahead !!

Congratulations. I've been playing 5 string for about 5 years...upgraded from a Gold Tone to the Eagle II 3 months ago and love my new banjo...great range of possible tones, beautifully built. Enjoy the journey!!

I have the same one and love it! Do yourself a favor and find a good instructor, it will make the learning experience more enjoyable and push you to constantly improve.

well just heard from Janet. My Eagle II is due to ship from the factory on 2/9.
There is some light at the end of the tunnel.

I would also suggest an instructor and if there are others in the house, a mute. Fits over the bridge and kills the vibrations to the head. I can ask my wife where she bought it, if needed.

My Eagle II landed safely at home today. I wasn't expecting her until tomorrow. Thank you to the Deerings for making such a fine banjo. Now I have to figure out how to play it. DAY 1

I just purchased a used Goodtime 2 and waiting for delivery. Also ordered a Mike's mute after my wife heard the demo on the website.
I started lessons a couple of years ago while working in Prescott AZ but was unable to continue when I got home - finally able to start again.
I can't find an instructor in North San Diego County and when I called the Deering Factory they couldn't refer one. Any advice with on-line lessons or an instructor in my area will be very appreciated.

I would DEFINITELY recommend the "Murphy Method" DVDs - they helped me much more than the local instructor!
