Capo Advice for Deering Sierra

From Banjoplayer2014 on 6/29/2014 8:49:48 PM

I just recently purchased a Deering Sierra.  I love the banjo!  I used a Paige Capo on my old banjo, but I find that I can't easily slide it over the nut on the Sierra due to the "hump" behind the headstock.  Any recommendations about how the Paige can work or recommendations of any other capo that can slide over the nut instead of removing it from the banjo.  Thanks!

Contact the manufacturer, they should be the best help.

Paige makes different size capos. You can check their website. I believe they make one that will fit your Sierra. I bought a Shubb, however you can't store it above the nut.

Yeah. I bought one too, and suffer similar issues. Though, I don't like the slippery, rounded sleeve of the Paige, so I'd also be interested if a different manufacturer has a deeper U-bend model. I also use the Shubb mostly, but as has been pointed out, I'm always aware that I might lose it.

Hope someone has something good to offer here…

I have a Paige Click wide banjo capo that fits over the nut on my Sierra.

I checked out the Paige Click wide capo. It will slide over the nut at an angle, but the "U" shape wasn't deep enough to completely go over the hump on the back of the neck. Not sure if there are any more options out there.
