I'm a new banjo player and new to this group.

I started playing banjo a few weeks ago when a friend gave me a Gold Tone Cripple Creek R banjo to use.

But my dream banjo is a Deering Goodtime banjo (hence the avatar) and the joining of this group.

Being Canadian I have never held and played a Deering Goodtime personally but there was something about the instrument that was calling out to me.

This weekend I found a Canadian dealership for Deering and finally I got to hold and play the Goodtime banjo.

Now I know I'm hooked!!!

Wish me luck as I'm saving up.

Hopefully it won't be too long before I can own a Deering Goodtime.

Do not sell you Cripple Creek short, I played one once and it was a really nice banjo, good feel, and good tone. I have 3 Deering's and love them all, you will enjoy your goodtime for a while, then get the itch for another. I started very late in life, knowing had I began in my youth I would have a room full of banjo's. I hope you enjoy your Goodtime as much as I did mine, find yourself some folk to play with and you will enjoy it more...

Then I went to a guitar fair, that's when I saw the love of my life, a Goodtime 2. That's when the saving started. If you've got any kids perhaps you could sell one on ebay....
