Lots of good info on string selection here but I haven't seen the following question answered. What is the best make of light strings that have the least amount of sharpness at the higher frets? Even with an Arthur Hatfield compensated bridge, the middle string starts to sharpen at the 5th fret and higher (yes I probably am pressing too hard)?

I'm presently using Gibson Earl Scruggs signature light gauge strings and you can see all my banjo details on my homepage.

I guess the perfect solution is to use only one type of strings and order a hand made bridge, where you tell then in millimeters exactly where the strings stay in tune. Example: 12A or 12B of http://banjobridge.com/br-08.htm

	dcb says: 10/29/2011 2:05:24 PM 9.5, 11, 12.5, 20w, and 9.5, up the guage on the 3rd. I am using GHS. helped me a lot also stays in tune better when you do a lot of bends. Dave

	tkocason says: 11/30/2011 4:47:11 PM oops I haven't been to this group lately, but I wanted to share that I just put a moon bridge -heavy, 11/16 on my Maple Blossom and wow! The tone is now awesome with no sharps on the fretted strings. You may want to try one, it's the only bridge I've found so far to get correct intonation.
