Golden Era - day 1

From Jimsong56 on 7/31/2011 8:44:54 AM

After a 6 month shopping adventure and a 7 week wait, I picked up my Golden Era yesterday. With 3 spikes added by the Bucks County Folk Shop in New Britain PA, and the wonderful setup work of both Deering and Karl Dietrichs, I am set for my new musical adventures.

Two hours after getting my new "lady" home, my Washburn B-9 gave it's swan song appearance at a BBQ performance from my band "Creed's Crossing". It served me well and now is ready to be shared with a new student of the 5 String.

I look forward to many years of pleasure with my "lady".

Looking for a name to grow organically from her sleek body and if any of you have"first date experiences" with your Deering ladies, I would love to hear them.

To a wonderful rest of the summer.

Jim

Congratulations! My 1999 Golden Era sounds so awesome now that I can hardly stand it! The 06 tone ring and soft maple rims were great additions to this banjo by Deering. I'm sure as the banjo matures, it tone will even get better.

I think I am in big trouble now! First evening practicing and wife said at 10:30 PM, "Time to stop"

I got a mute from Deerings site....it really helps that situation, may have saved my marriage, for now...

I'd rather give my wife ear-plugs LOL. Why should I suffer ! (((sarcasm))).
Have a mute if it comes to that.

Deering sells mutes? I have to go get one - just made a trade in for a used Hartford (LOVE IT) but yeah, husband might not appreciate my getting in 20 minutes before work in the morning...

The new routine is "20 minutes" after putting the house to bed each evening. Of course, my idea of 20 minutes gets longer and longer as I discover my Deering's unique sounds and touch.

I am looking at signing onto Tony Trischka's online Banjo School with my Deering offer of a free three months. Thoughts?
