Other people own Deering Banjo's?

From tkocason on 6/18/2011 7:45:45 PM

Hello,

I've been playing about 10 months now on a goodtime 2. Bought it used, didn't know a Deering from a hole the ground...it looked nice and I wanted to start playing. I love it and I'm playing about an hour a day using the Murphy Method (She plays on a Stelling, but I forgive her). Just ordered a Maple Blossom and I can't wait to get it!!!! I'll keep you updated on how it turns out. It's a 2008 model (used) but looks in excellent condition in the pics. It's Deering forever for me!

Anyway, I have a Jam session going here in Silver City on Tuesdays and Thursday evenings. Been going about 2 months, got a guitar player and a fiddle player that come regular, and, we'll keep playing till some real musicians show up.

Glad to be here...if your ever in Silver City, NM look me up.

Way to go Keith. I have a friend who lives in Silver City who is a musician. He and a couple friends have a small band and play small venues. His name is Dave Martino. Look him up and say hello from Daryl. He might like to do some jamming with you. Real good folks. If you can't find him send me an e-mule and I'll find his address or email. Keep on picking!

Can't go wrong with Deering! I have three now and sold all of my imported clone noise makers. The Goodtimes are killer music makers especially with some of the aftermarket bridges. I love the Sosebee and Kat Eyz bridges got them on my Goodtime and Goodtime2 as well as my Eagle2.

Oh Yea.......I'm drunk on the Maple Blossom Kool aid!
Wow, what a machine.... I've got to beef up my strap, this thing is heavy. But, man does she hummm.
I need to adjust the action a little higher, but the XYZ Fults tail piece is super easy, has a guitar tuner on it, Just raise or lower it at will and hear the difference.
Went to the Albuquerque Folk festival this weekend...Tried her out at some good jam sessions...too chicken to take any breaks though, I'll save that for the next one.
Keith.

Mike over at KayEyz will hook you up. I have the "original pegged" and two "Prowlers" with different wood combos. They are working out very well.

Also I have switched to the American made Banjo Co. cryo strings and like them a lot. They settle in fast and stay in tune

Have fun,
Mark

I have been playing the Sierra for four plus years and also have the goodtime II open back for camping and canoeing, best in the world!

There is little doubt that Deering just makes a very playable, solidly built, terrific sounding Banjo, plain and simple. I am lucky enough to own two, a 2004 Black Diamond which is truly a magical instrument even in my relatively inexperienced hands, and just recently, a Goodtime Special Classic for travelling and to knock around with. Everybody has a favorite flavor. What can I say, other than thank you Deering for making my musical experience truly rewarding and pleasureable. I've doodled around with a few others, but I'll keep both of mine thank you very much!.
