Picked up a Goodtime Artisan Special when the world went nuts with the pandemic. Been absolutely addicted since and have gotten pretty good with hours of practice everyday.
Then I decided to step up and get something with a real tone ring and tried a Recording King Elite 75... not my cup of tea. Thought about going the old Gibson route and played a few. Again, not my thing. Didn't want to spend that much coin on a REALLY used instrument. So I landed on a Rustic Wreath and am still waiting for delivery. I've got some pretty high hopes, since my Goodtime Special is such an amazing instrument. I like the satin finish and lack of binding on the neck. I just think it looks good that way.
Then I took my family camping and started playing clawhammer on a whim and it sounded pretty good! I took to it fairly quickly so I looked for a used Americana on Reverb and pulled the trigger on that too. I know I could keep playing on my Special just fine, but it was a great deal and I was able to afford it right then, so now I'm a 3 Deering owner and I'm not mad about it.
Great company. Great banjos. Good times.
