I bought a Sierra new last May and the more I play it the more I appreciate it. No, it's not the flashiest banjo on the market, nor does it have many of the bells and whistles that you find today (radiused fingerboard, high-gloss finish, etc). The inlay isn't even MOP. Yet, I don't care. The Sierra is just a bare-bones, grass roots instrument, yet it's still professional grade, solid, and (to me at least) easy to play with a great sound. Anyone else have affection for their lowly Sierra?
