Hi everyone, I have been a member of bho for a while but never posted anything. My name is Richard , I live in New Zealand which is not known for it's large banjo population, there's not many of us. Consequently I spend a lot of time on this site absorping the information much more experienced players share with newbies like me. I'm very grateful for that.
Finding a decent banjo in NZ is a lesson in patience, it's finding that combination of quality verses budget with a small pool of banjos to choose from. I managed to find a secondhand 1996 Deering Sierra in a small town an hour from where I live (another small town called Katikati). I loved it from the minute I picked it up and I consider myself lucky to be in the right place at the right time.
I have since learned and had confirmed by the great guys at Deering that it has a Hartford tone ring. To use their words, 'I've landed on my feet'.
