I just bought the "pulse piccolo" banjo on ebay.

Its made from a 14" drum and it has a 27-1/2" vsl

is this considered a cello banjo or is it just a big 5 string??

when it arrives I'll re string it with nylgut minstrel strings for low tuning.

any and all comments welcome

	mike gregory says: 10/11/2014 11:23:25 AM If it's tuned an octave below standard 5 string, it's a cello banjo. So, if you're putting on strings, string it any way you want. It's YOUR banjo.

I've used many sets of each and I think they did an excellent job of dialing in the gauges. My only exception is I use a #26 for the first string of the medium set instead of a #28 which is what they have for the first. The medium set is for tuning an octave below standard, like Mike said. The lights are for tuning an octave below an A-tuned banjo, so a note higher than the mediums. I've tuned a standard banjo down to low A with the Gold Tone lights with excellent results.
