I love my CEB-5 but am curious about the results of swapping bridges. I see some listed on the classifieds here and am curious if anyone has tried them out and how they sounded. Thanks!

mewss says: 4/30/2012 1:31:39 AM I just got a gold tone OT-6 and got a new bridge/nut so that I can swap between the 6 string setup as well as a 5 string cello banjo setup (as far as I know the neck width and pot characteristics are the same as a CEB-5). I took the banjo to a local guy who used to work at OME to have him cut a new nut. I ordered the bridge used on the CEB-5 from gold tone but after the luthier took a look at it he quickly recommended a graphite bridge. He said graphite bridges usually give too bright of a sound for a normal bluegrass banjo, but that's not a problem with a cello banjo. After he put it on there was an obvious improvement in the tone. With the graphite bridge the sound seems much more rich/full and has a sort of "growl" when you use a strong touch.
