I purchased a banjo from John a while back--old neck and his pot. You can hear it and hear a number of historical gold rush songs at www.thegoldrushbanjo.com

The recordings are an effort to re-create the historical setting for a number of gold rush songs.

The site gives an overview of the banjo in the far west during the gold rush.
