I dont know if Jim remembers this but when i was a boy just wanting to learn to play the banjo i remember my dad would take me to Jim`s house and his brother Ransey`s house when they and all there brothers would pick on the weekends and i would watch them all night in amazement and said to myself this is what i want to do. Jim and Ransey both helped me get started out on the banjo actually i think the first banjo my dad bought me to learn on was an old banjo put together from a bunch of parts that i was told once belonged to Jim. Jim your banjo playing influenced me when i was a boy and made me want to learn to play the banjo you are awesome thanks Rod.....

Jim is such an original and genuine fella, that his presence is powerful just in itself. You were very lucky to have had this influence at a very young age.
