I was asking my wife if she would paint or draw something on my banjo head for me, and that got us into the discussion of the orientation of the image.
I decided that I wanted something that didn't have a distinct orientation, and that got me thinking about fisheye images. So I did a search on Google and came up with a bunch of suitable images, although I'll probably end up using my own in the end. ( https://www.google.com/search?q=fisheye+trees )
I printed one out and stuck the print on my banjo to get an idea of how it will look. I think the final product will turn out well.
