I am considering having the head of a banjo illustrated. Since I could never draw anything, I'm considering using a tattoo artist. Anyone ever try it??

	BroMan says: 9/24/2014 9:30:27 AM I'm thinking of something custom above the 5th string. I don't want it to be a wall hanging or have the art worn down in play. The tattoo shop that I'm friendly with closed on the day I'm over that way. I'll make a trip one of these days I also have concern about deadening (is that a word??) the head. I can deal with a change in sound, but not something that takes away a banjo, for lack of a better term, soul. Gotta research before I jump into anything
	Helix says: 11/26/2014 10:58:11 PM No, it doesn't deaden the head. I've seen a Whyte Laydie user put white latex house paint underneath to provide a certain sound. Ink is good, color is good. Ink from underneath. There's a rainbow head on my homepage. Vellum = sheepskin, mine is a Xerox color copy. One younger player made a head out of a Sun Chips bag. Research your preference whether on top or underneath, I blew dirt off by tightening the head one time, made it vibrate like a scrubber, See? Keeps your head clean.
