How to display images when posting "Comments" to a Group Blog Entry

From OldTimeGal on 2/27/2013 10:56:21 AM

I certainly don't have all the answers, but this may help:

Overall, there are different methods for posting images, such as:

  • Use the application's Attachment tool
  • Use a link
  • Use cut & paste
  • Use "Ctrl C" & "Ctrl V"
  • Use HTML

It depends on where you are posting, such as a Forum post, a Group Blog New Entry, or a comment to a Group Blog Entry.  It also depends on your computer.

Here I am Posting a New Entry on the Group's Blog, so in this initial entry post, I can either link or paste, using the tools provided in this BHO Group Blog application.

For when you are posting a "Comment" to a Blog entry, cut & paste (Ctrl C & Ctrl V) does not seem work for most folks, so you can also either:

Provide a direct URL link: img545.imageshack.us/img545/19...blank.jpg

Use HTML to display an image from the web:

Use HTML to display an image from your BHO page:

For those not familiar with HTML, here is a brief explanation:

HTML is a language for describing web pages. (aka “source code”). The acronym stands for Hyper Text Markup Language. There are many different versions of HTML, the current version is XHTML5.

A markup language is a set of markup tags which describe the document content. These tags are called “HTML tags”. The HTML tags are keywords (name tags) surrounded by angle brackets - such as the "img" tag.  The tags normally come in pairs, one for the start/opening tag "img", and one for the end/closing tag "/img".

To display an image in a Forum post, upload the image to your BHO page, and then just use the BHO attachment tool to add the image to your post.

To display an image in a Comment in a Group page, such as this one, you can either provide a link to the online image, or use HTML. To use HTML to display an image you need to use the src attribute. Src stands for "source". The value of the src attribute is the URL of the image you want to display. Syntax for defining an image: img src="url"

The URL points to the location where the image is stored. For example, an image named "designblank.jpg", located in the "images" directory on "img545.imageshack.us" has the URL: img545.imageshack.us/img545/19...blank.jpg

The browser displays the image where the "img" tag occurs in the document. If you put an image tag between two paragraphs, the browser shows the first paragraph, then the image, and then the second paragraph. The height and width attributes are used to specify the height and width of an image. I’ve set the attributes for this blog to keep the image size down.

So to use HTML to display an image from your BHO page, you need the source URL for where the image is located in BHO storage, then use the correct HTML tags to display.

If you're not used to working with HTML, probably best to try copy/paste, Ctrl C/Ctrl V, or that doesn't work, just provide a link.
