Hello, i'm Sven, i'm new here. i know its not a banjo head i've illustrated but didn't know where to put it elseways sp..

Do you need to treat the wood before painting and coat the illustration after painting? What are your inspirations for designs? Thank you for sharing:-)
sven_keersmaekers says: 2/13/2013 3:26:01 PM hey, I just got rid of the varnish with a soft-grain sandpaper, then i used a montana to spray paint a base color, putted on brown varnish with brush and whipping it right off with a cloth, to get a "woody" texture, Then i made the image with file tip black markers. no reference material, only stuff that was in my head - was the inspiration really. My dad works at a garage, and i let their painter put on the final coating, shines like a star i you ask me :D Greetings Sven
justtysen says: 3/3/2013 6:29:20 PM Whoa, really like the ink look. Cool tip about bringing out the wood coloration too. I might have to try something like this on my light colored goodtime banjo.
	OldTimeGal says: 3/4/2013 5:16:17 AM When using oil on wood, adding a little sepia ink to the oil produces a nice look as well.
