Mandolin chops available in BIAB?

From luke_warmwater on 11/28/2014 11:41:20 AM

I sure would like to include mandolin chops in my BIAB tunes, but I'll be danged if I can figure out how to make it happen.  I use guitar and bass only...I have looked and searched everywhere in the program but cannot find any mention of adding Mando chops.

I use the 2004 version and have never investigated updates.

Thanks

Bruce Pritchard

Hey luke, I use 2012 version and I think when you choose a pre-made style like "straight ahead bluegrass" all the main instruments are included automatically on rithyme.
Or you can include solo's'
Matter of fact sometimes I only want guitar and bass and can't figure how to get the others out.

Luke. Since you are using a version that only has MIDI playback, there is no Mandolin available in the General Midi (aka GM) list. The closest you can come is to use a Nylon Guitar or a Kalimba. I have see both of these used over the past 20 years of collecting MIDI Bluegrass. Since you have not updated since 2004, you are in for a big surprise if you have not investigated the new BIAB. Go over to PGMUSIC's website (pgmusic.com) and check out the sample bluegrass tunes using RealTracks. I upgraded when those came out and never looked back.

The realtracks 11 and 33 are really nice IMO. They are the pure bluegrass realtracks. Scott Vestal did the banjo in there, and there is also nice mandolin, fiddle, and guitar backup tracks. But the only chops are on the fiddle. And they have some tempo choices to fit into your song even better. Have to learn the skills on using these things, but the guys at PG helped me out if I didn't find it in the manual. In spite of that I think they are worth the money if you like to create for yourself.

RealTracks Set #36, Swingin' Country 2 has 2 good Mandolin chop realtracks.
Mandolin, Rhythm Chop Sw 120
Mandolin, Rhythm Fast Chop Sw 190
