Changing number of beats in some bars

From DuncanK on 3/31/2014 3:29:45 PM

Hi group. I posted this question over on the PGMusic forum, but no responses so far. I have some songs that I entered the chords for, I'm trying to play along with using Real Tracks. I like to have the intro beats, then set it to play 10 times through or so, by setting the number of choruses.

Some of the songs have mostly 4/4 time, but a few have some bars with 2/4 or 3/4 time. Think "Clinch Mountain Backstep" with the extra beats thrown in. I am able to change those bars with the F5 menu, and then change the time back to 4/4 on the next bar.

That works fine, except on the next chorus, running through the song more than one time, the timing is off, the generated audio doesn't sync up with the highlighted bars on the screen. I was able to fix this by setting the beats for every bar in the song, not just the first one back to 4/4 after a change. Seems to work.

However, when downloading the song to BIAB on the iPad, it is out of sync again over there, even though it is fine on the desktop. Is there any solution for this? Am I setting up the beat changes correctly on the desktop?

Hope that makes sense. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks,
Duncan

If I'm not mistaking Clinch Mt is all 4/4 time. At least it is on mine.

Hope this link works, here's the tab for CMB:

Lots of The BG songs I've learned have extra 2/4, 3/4, or single beat measures thrown in to 4/4 songs.

First of all, which style are you using. That would definitely help in solving the problem. Clinch Mountain Backstep does have a timing change to 2/4 and then back to 4/4 time twice in the song.

Changing the style to 8th note based instead of the default 16th note based style may help. Once I have the particular style, I can supply some information on how to change the style.

You can also grab the song here and try it out in BIAB.

Look for allsgu.zip and download that.

jcland, thanks! I'll check that out.

jcland, thanks for that link, that's a great resource! I will make use of those sgu files for sure.

Unfortunately, it doesn't solve my problem that maybe I wasn't too clear about. I can get changes in beats per measure to work in a song in the desktop version of BIAB. My problem is when I transfer these songs to my iPad version of BIAB, the audio gets out of sync with the visual display of chords n the app. I have a feeling the iPad/iPhone version just can't handle these beat changes. I will submit a bug report and hopefully they will fix it for a future release.
