Dynaflow head size question

From bonnybroome on 2/18/2014 1:05:33 PM

Howdy, I am working on a Dynaflow torque converter banjo and am curious what other makers have used for their heads. Mine measures exactly 11 1/2 inches across the top, but the side flares wider gradually from that point down. So I am assuming that an 11 5/8 head would be the size. The followup question is what size crown works best.

Thanks very much

Thanks very much. Do you remember what the crown height was? Low 3/8" ? High? 5/8? Thanks again

I bought an 11 ⅝ from Bob Smakula in Elkins WV. He stocks odd sizes. There was only one crown height available in that size. I have yet to make a tension hoops, but it looks like it should work just fine.

I am the banjo boy who used the special order head. It was 11-5/8 medium crown. Best of luck with your Dynaflow banjo.
