I'm just guessing this may refer to an archtop all aluminum configuration for the rim/tone ring? The term isn't one I knew.

	xnavyguy says: 6/24/2013 1:54:07 PM BottleCaps are unique in the way the flange, integral to the rim, is shaped. Looking from the top of a soda bottle cap it is fluted with sharp points sticking out. A "BottleCap" banjo has 32 "flutes" cast to the rim. The flutes have holes in them for the J-hooks.

Wow, have you ever done some fun stuff with junk banjos! In a way, my own new Roy Smith snakewood special is almost like a bottlecap, but much nicer. Have a look on my BHO pages.
