Hello Alum Outcasts,
Have never played one, but steered away from hard driving BG and have turned more toward traditional 3 finger and my own version of up-pick frailing. Usually play slow rhythmic blues in open A and wandering mystic improvisations in Sawmill and Double C. Always play alone.
Have become interested in the so-called beer can banjars as a light, rugged instrument well suited for camping, high humidity of Maryland's tidewater area, mild abuse and reckless kids. At present, I am forced to chance fate with my older Washburn 14 that I converted to open back, that has much sentimental value to me as my first banjar.
While I realize no reason is good enough to acquire another banjar, would ya'll agree that the Rover RB 40 would fill that bill, or am I overlooking something (besides its egg frying ability)? BTW: Figure I would try a Deering Black Head on it. I like the Renaissance head on my others. Advice/opinions much appreciated.
Cheers,
Floyd
