For sale or trade, is a 1980s R.C. Allen plectrum banjo.
Selling to help a coworker who was involved in a vehicle accident a couple weeks ago.
All proceeds will go to his medical expenses.
Here is an opportunity for a plectrum player (or a 4-and-5 string player) to get a solidly made instrument, or for a bluegrass player to upgrade their brass rod banjo pot assembly or (you name it!)
R.C. Allen was a luthier in southern California, and a few of his instruments have been listed here - and on other music sites over a period of years.

This banjo is in excellent condition and features a 22-fret curly maple neck with flower inlay, a maple rim and a curly maple resonator. Grover planet tuners are currently installed.
The pot assembly may be a Stewart MacDonald but it seems to conform more to the pot assemblies installed on higher-end Japanese banjos. The hook threads are metric.
This banjo is more of a plainer model, hence the price.
I have not disassembled the banjo nor modified it in any way. It has a nice crisp sound.
I am also open to parting out the banjo:
$240 obo, for the pot assembly (includes rim, resonator and resonator hardware, tension hoop, head, co-rods and associated hardware, hooks, nuts, armrest, tone ring, etc.)
$100 obo for the neck (includes all four tuning pegs and both hanger bolts in the heel),
OR
$340 obo for the whole banjo.
