This is an ash block rim with a Van Eps style brass tension hoop, drilled for 8 hooks. I made these in 2020 for a custom build, but I forgot that the customer had requested 16 hooks instead of the 8 I usually put on an 8" pot, so I had to make a new rim and hoop. These are meant to be used with Balsam Banjo Works brackets, though others may fit too, and a medium crown 8" head. I have cut a square hole in the rim for a dowel stick neck, as you can see in the picture. I can add a rim cap to the bottom made of cherry, walnut or African mahogany for $30. The top of the rim is turned to a wood tone ring profile, but a brass hoop could also be set on top. Ash is not the prettiest wood I have, but it has a nice loud sound.
