I have been making this style of bridge for over a year now for all the banjos I make. This design came about through laziness, as I had been making bridges in the Grover 2 footed style but got tired of having to cut and sand those tight inside radii on each end, and that rectangular cutout in the bottom. I switched the end to a 60 degree slope and the bottom to a wide curve, and the result looked like a utility knife blade, those disposable, reversible ones. The wood is straight grained kiln dried hard maple from my local hardwood supplier an hour west of here in Harrisville, NY.
I have these bridges in 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", 3/4", 13/16", 7/8", 15/16", and 1" heights, all with 'Crowe' spacing of 7/16" on center from string to string, or 1-3/4" from 1st to 5th. I can make bridges with other sizes or string spacings for $6, and with radiused tops (any radius) for $7. The shipping is high compared to the cost of a bridge, but the good news about it is that I can ship any number of bridges for that $5 price, as they weigh very little. Or if you buy an armrest or something I can ship bridges in with it at no extra charge. I have shipped bridges in an envelope with a stamp, but that is a gamble as some of them get caught in the postal machinery and the bridge is lost.
