For Sale is another Gold Star GE-1 Prospector that I upgraded and improved. I antiqued the finish on the neck and metal hardware & also had Casey Sullivan spray the rim black for me.
The other major improvement was the scalloping and re shaping on the tension hoop. This helps make the most of the scooped neck and makes the banjo more comfortable to play up on the neck joint. I also added an John Balch 4 star hidehead and a Snuffy Smith bridge.
This is a great playing and sounding openback and would make an excellent first old time banjo or a great backup banjo that won't break the bank. I used this banjo a practice piece and on family vacations, it plays really easy and sounds great.
