This is a stock walnut 11" banjo with zebrawood fretboard and armrest. It's a second because I accidentally made the dowel stick hole in the rim in the wrong place. I patched the hole but it is still visible because it doesn't fit in with the pattern of blocks in the rim. This is a cosmetic problem and does not affect the structural integrity of the rim to any appreciable degree. As with all of my banjos if the rim (or any other part) should fail I will replace it as long as I am still alive and able to work. This banjo was built in June and has been sitting at a local arts center on consignment till today. I knew it was a long shot to sell a banjo there, so I decided it was time to put it up for sale online instead. Without the rim defect this banjo would sell for $1090.
This banjo has a walnut rim and two piece neck. The Romero-style armrest and the fretboard are zebrawood. I will sell the banjo without the armrest for $40 less. This banjo has a Renaissance head on an 11" block rim, 5/8" thick, with a wood tone ring profile. The scale length is 25-1/2" and the nut is 1-3/8" wide. The neck has a two way truss rod accessed from the heel, brass dots, Gotoh tuners and Corian nut and pip. I made the brass Van Eps style tension hoop and the dowel stick yoke, the head, tailpiece and tuners came from Smakula Fretted Instruments and the rest of the hardware came from Balsam Banjo Works. The finish is Tru Oil. There is a brass plate on the dowel stick with the banjo number and such on it. The banjo is currently set up with a tall 5th string nut to raise the 5th to the level of the other strings, but I can shorten the nut so the string rests on the 5th fret if desired. I can also add 5th string spikes for $5 each. If you would prefer a Fiberskyn head I can install one at no extra cost. To see a video demonstration of this banjo please follow the link below:
