as promised, ive posted pics of the new banjo and the tenor. check my photos. i havent had a chance to work on the other 5 string yet (needed a nap). this is a little different for me. nice flat surfaces. years ago i used to work on guns, inlays, engraving, checkering and building stocks.
the tenor was origionally an ebay purchase. it had a twisted neck with a rose wood fret board and peg head overlay. the frets were worn to nubs.i steamed the fret board off. was suprised to see it was attached with hide glue! (i recognize the smell and feel from when i used to make primitive bows) i had to sand it down to straighten it out, so the ebony fret board is a little thicker to make up the difference. i think im going to have to get a 1/2 " bridge. the current bridge is 5/8 " and it is a little high. i also need to attach the resonator which is a nice piece of birds eye maple plywood. i want to use screws (origionally had six nails) just incase i need to work on it again
all in all it has turned out pretty good i think.
