Now that we've got the dining room arranged to accomodate and take advantage of the new corn/pellet stove, I have found a wonderful place to pick. Sitting in front of that cheery little fire, nice and warm, looking out through the french doors at the back lots, I can relax and pick my banjo all day. There's plenty of room, and my mood is lifted just being in that room. I've heard the survival guys on TV say that if you're ever lost in the woods, a fire is important for heat and protection but it's also a huge morale lifter, and I must absolutely agree. As we plan our addition and remodel, I will keep in mind that I want a cheery little picking place inside, as well as the porch outside.
Oh, great--now I am thinking about having a party, and it's bitter cold and snowing outside. I hate to wish time away, so I will reset my brain to appreciating the winter time and next spring will be here when it gets here. but don't be surprised if I say "come on up and we'll play a little music" at the end of next summer.
