Back from a gig

Posted by PaulKirby on Sunday, December 7, 2008

The Marble House Boys, so named for the marble opera house where we all work had a gig this afternoon in the foyer of the opera house. So cool. It's an enormous and beautiful space, white marble, white birch and glass walls and windows up to the ceiling, about 20 meters high. Beautiful sunset over the fjord while we did one 30 minute set.

The playing and singing went really well, and we had sound equipment and a soundman there from the opera. Boy, I'm about to abandon my single mic crusade. Also, the pickies are making it much harder for me to over-muscle with my right hand, and the sound is much brighter, and on my RB-250 with heavier strings, the pickies make a great contrast, and a balanced sound.

Here are a couple of new verses to jingle bells that I made up for today's gig.

Late one Christmas Eve
As I went out to shop
I found myself in trouble
Talkin' to a cop

He asked me for my name
and I said Santa Claus
And now I'm in the county jail
with handcuffs on my paws

oh

jingle bells...

Late one Christmas night
As I came to my door
My wife was standing there
Not as happy as before

She said 'It's half-past two,
I don't know where you've been
But now you've got some business
with my rolling pin!

oh

Jingle bells...

Your next career may be penning crazy country songs.

So are Moving Day and the Marble House Boys one in the same?

Happy Holidays. Or Merry Christmas. You get the gist.

Hey!  No, Marble House Boys is all opera singers, and Moving Day! has two that aren't classical musicians. Big dif, I know, but the rep is a little different.  Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas, to you, too!
