It's probably premature to call it an unqualified success but I think tabbing out tunes I learn in TablEdit is helping me, and not just to remember or to re-learn songs. It's difficult to describe but I feel like I've progressed a fair amount this week and all I've done is re-learn four or five tunes and tab them out. Whatever it takes I guess.
I'm anxious to start getting back into single string and trying to dissect Richard Bailey's
playing on SteelDrivers
. Those things will be there though. I plan to spend the rest of the year on Scruggs, with the metronome and TablEdit. If I don't shore up my timing and add some punch to my playing it'll all be for naught anyway.
Maybe I'm getting back on the beam. It feels that way and for me, that's a big part of the battle. Oh, and I'm starting to teach my cousin how to play guitar. With any luck I'll have a rhythm player soon and one who is more interested in playing than in recreational reefer smoking . (Not that there's anything wrong with that, I mean, other than being illegal and all.)
