Banjo as Murphy's Law

Posted by Joanchek on Monday, November 24, 2008

I have been on a dead run today, getting read to leave for Virginia via Philadelphia in the morning.  I did four loads of laundry, got all the food ready to pack, renewed the registration on the car, went to the bank, got gas, went to two grocery stores, cleaned the bird cage, and made the mincemeat filling, because it's better if it sits a couple of days.  I wrote my trivia game, hosted it and kept score for the game after.  I gave a housekey to my bird sitter, and gave her instructions.  And I wrapped some Christmas gifts that need to be brought along, and two birthday gifts.  I am, besides my own packing  (clothes laid out, ready for the suitcase) ready to go.

Of course, it's snowing.  And it's supposed to snow through the night.  It's not terribly cold, but I have to cross the Poconos and there are several very high bridges over some notches on the turnpike.  It's simply not going to be safe to leave as early as I had planned.  Now, of course, if I was not ready to go, the weather would be annoyingly fine.

No matter, we'll get there, and getting there safely and in one piece is all that matters.

You get. Get there safely. Get home safely. We're all looking forward to hearing how your holiday turns out.

My wife and I packed up the fifth wheel and left the RV park in Westport, WA and drove to the RV park in Bonney Lake, WA. After spending Thanksgiving with the kids and grandkids we'll head south to Arizona where the sun shines and the air is warm and dry. I may even get a couple of banjo lessons this winter.  Looking forward to that.
