I'm in the process of re-learning all the non-tuner tunes on the CD The Essential Earl Scruggs
. As soon as I'm satisfied that a song is close enough to the original to be easily recognizable I tab it out in TablEdit. Hopefully that will make keeping up with the basics much easier.
Finally started working on my singing too. I actually think there's hope. I sound halfway decent, once I stumble upon the correct key for me, if I don't have to contend with an instrument. Hopefully once I manage to learn the tunes really well, both on a mechanical instrument and with my voice, it'll be a little easier to do two things at once.
Anyway, that's what I'm doing these days. Trying to get just a little better everyday. It's a medium range plan. Hopefully by this time next year I'll reap some fruit.
Oh, and today was a good mail day. I got the new SteelDrivers
disk, Greg Morton's Solo Guitar
, and the paperwork and certificate on my D-18. When it rains it pours, or something like that.
