It is true. The Buckeye is in progress. I've posted the first pictures I've received from Greg Galbreath of the banjo he is building for me.
As all of my non-banjo friends have said, yes, I know it looks like a block of wood. To me however it is like the first ultra-sound image of my child. I see the potential. I can see the burl of the wood and I can imagine what that is going to feel like in my hands. I can imagin how it will sound; how it will improve my playing. As with my children I worry. I worried if they were developing ok. I worry if I made the right decision . What if I don't like the shorter scale after all? What if my inlay coices seem silly... ( I described them to an artist friend and he said, "Oh, like tatoos for your banjo," and I have begun to doubt what I was so excited about only weeks ago...
I am encouraged by other players who play Greg's beautiful masterworks and I am encouraged by my own preperations and improvements as a bnjo player, as I try to practice enogh to be worthy of my new banjo.
I can't wait for the next pictures and I'll share them as soon as I am able.

Yeah, it looks like a shapeless block of wood to some, but to you and your builder, it's a diamond in the rough.

Of course, that picture is about 5 years old when I won the drawing for a brand new RB-3.
They still have a great selection and a knowledgeable staff of great folks, but they no longer carry Gibson.

Brent ...
Don't worry about your choices on the Buckeye ...
It will be a wonderful banjer. If you aren't fond of it ... somebody else will think it's the cat's meow!
Unlike bass boats ;>) ... It'll hold its value for years to come!
Best of luck and ENJOY!

I'm not worried, exactly. It's just that YOU keep selling the banjos I would have bought!
