Banjo as black cloud

Posted by Joanchek on Wednesday, November 19, 2008

I had great practice today, which I needed after yesterday.  Dad's doing OK... they still have not pinpointed the problem but they have eliminated many things that it's not, so that's a start.  We had a very good, long chat this afternoon and he's in good spirits and sounds OK.

My trivia boards were hacked;  one problem is solved, the other lingers and is actually more than just an inconvenience.  I am hoping that the support community for the board I use will have some ideas.  I do not understand why people who are smart enough to hack into a message board aren't using, or selling, their talents to do something beneficial.  I also do not know why, when these hackers are identified, that they're not prosecuted and punished severely and with much press attention.  If you sneaked into my house, and put something objectionable  (say, a bowl of lima beans, which I cannot stand) on my coffee table, or even worse, something dangerous (like lima beans, which I am apt to throw across the room) you would be arrested for breaking and entering at the least.  You might even face a burglary charge.  But these hackers sneak into my website files, put something there that does not belong and that I find objectionable, and off they go to do it somewhere else.  Why isn't this burglary as well?  Such a waste of time and talent and energy.

And all the time that I spent fixing the hack is time that I could not spend picking.  What a shame.

I support the death penalty for hackers!

They keep wrecking my friends and family's computers.  Of, course, knowing just enough about computers to really mess one up badly, they call me to come save them.

Me being tender of heart I usually try and after two hours of abject frustration, I send them to the Geek Squad or someone like that.

Tom
