Don't you hate when you are having a good practice session and you decide to try a different tuning. One twist of the peg and you hear your nylon string just unwind and snap. There wasn't really enough extra on the string to tie it back properly. So, it was around 12 oclock last night and I popped a string. I could have picked up the metal string banjo and continued, but I decided it was time to quit. I am going to the music store today to get some backup strings. I was seriously thinking about fishing line last night and wondered if I could get the same sound since my 4th string is wound. One day, I will get me some serious backup strings (fishing line) to help me out in a pinch.
After working with nylon strings, I am not much for the metal strings. I tried a little yesterday evening and it hurt my fingers. I also noticed that it is not as forgiving when fretting with metal. Sometimes I get the bad metal sound when it is not fretted just right. That doesn't seem to happen with nylon.

I hate late night broken strings and always order extra packs to be sure. Can't wait to try nylons though... only hear good things!
