It's been awhile. I haven't done any picking in quite awhile. I miss it. And it doesn't look like I'll get to pick any time soon. In addition to my studies, I have obligated to continue some research I started a couple years ago but just lost steam.
In addition to my school work and love of Bluegrass, I also collect and study ancient Roman Coinage. I've been collecting for well over 25 years and have a fairly substantial collection consisting of over some 2000 pieces.
Well, I've decided to liquidate the bulk of the collection. My collection is extremely broad now covering everything from Ancient Greek pieces Of around 600bce to some Roman Legionary Danari (Cleopatra's silver) up through the 12 Ceasars and well on into the middle ages.
I've decided to focus my collection on Late Roman Bronze which is still a broad spectrum but it is an area that I have particular interest in. Specifically, Constantinian coinage and even to narrow it a bit further, city commemoratives of the URBS ROMA and CONSTANTINOPOLI type.
I've posted photo's of a couple of pieces of interest to me. One of them is not particularly rare, I just think it's a nice coin. That coin is the one with the image of the emperor spearing a barbarian. The reverse reads "FEL TEMP REPARATIO" which roughly translated means "happy days are here again". The coin was struck for Constantius II.
I will be putting up a webpage documenting the collection. I'm having them photographed for a plate currently and I will also use the images on the webpage. I'll let you know when I get the page up.
Well, I just wanted to touch base and let anyone who might care know that I am still alive, I just haven't been active on the list.
See you guys later!
