Well, after an absence from pickin banjo, I am back at it with a Deering Gootimes 2...this time I swear I won't sell my banjo...I'll just trade it in when I upgrade, but for now I am very happy with the sound and growl i am hearing from this banjo...spent the afternoon at The 12th fret here in Toronto...played quite a few banjos and met a couple of local pickers...really good bunch there at the 12th fret. In the price range of up to $1000 it was hard to beat the sound of the Goodtimes 2. I also like that it is pretty light so when i am busking next year my shoulder will not complain. I thought I could live without banjo pickin but didn't realize how deep the banjo bug had bit...LOL

I'm happy with the sound of my little Aria too. Stuffed a rag in the resonator and now I have a much more pleasing and mellow tone from it.

It's funny how you can make wonderful changes to a banjo by a little tweak here and there and the right placement of rags or even sponges...I like my sound to be large and full and this little deering is doin the job big time (in my kitchen that is)...haven't had to make any changes to it...they set her up really nice at the 12th fret where I bought her from. Happy Pickin!
